Study Activities

If you are a teen who has been invited by one of your friends to participate in the study together, the BOBA Project involves the following study activities:​

All study activities will be conducted virtually. Upon completion, you will receive a $20 Amazon gift card and a $10 Starbucks gift card. Please see below for more details on the study activities and compensation.

1. Virtual Activity Session With Your Friend

Your friend has invited you to participate in this study with them. Together, you will discuss hypothetical scenarios surrounding current issues that affect Asian Americans. The full discussion will take place on Zoom for approximately one hour.

 

The sessions will be video and audio recorded, and the recordings will be stored securely on our server at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and will only be available to the research team.

To prepare for this session:

​

  • Each teen will find a quiet and comfortable space to participate in this virtual session without interruptions.​​​

  • Each teen will have Zoom downloaded on their computer and ensure a stable internet connection.

2. Online Surveys

Once you have completed the BOBA virtual activity session with your friend, you will be asked to complete two 30-minute surveys (1 hour total) separately. In the surveys, we will ask about your opinions, identity, life experiences, relationships, and well-being. Survey responses will be stored in a secure server and we will not share your answers to these questionnaires with your friends.

 

Participating teens will each receive $30 worth of gift cards upon completion of the virtual activity session and surveys.
